Computer Science and Engineering Department, CSUSB Senior Project Presentation Spring 2009 Time 11-11:30 June 5th 2009 Place JBH359 Presenter Erick Behr Advisor Dr. Turner Title: OnBase Imaging Management System Interface Abstract: Since its inception, document imaging has evolved beyond the simple archival process. The objective of imaging information management systems is to implement an easy-to-use, single-source document system with the ability to find, control, optimize the flow of fairly amount of scanned reports and reduce paper expense. However, the lack of integration between these two worlds often leads to inefficiencies and redundancies that can negatively impact all areas of productivity. Notwithstanding, the problem is not the paper; it how to integrate this information into an electronic automated environment. This presentation addresses this challenge and offers a swift solution as a paradigm to a common problem of lack of system integration. The wisest course of action is to implement a program interface in Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 to facilitate the communication between two Microsoft SQL Server 2005 servers. The interface will query the pertinent data tables in the main repository from the Records Management System (RMS) and extract the data from each field using the report case number as master key. Once the data is validated, it will be appended to the corresponding records bearing the same report case number on the OnBase metadata table. Seamlessly, the system not only captures, indexes and archives all electronic reports automatically, eliminate data entry, but also allows end users to retrieve multiple files with the same case number whenever and wherever needed effortlessly within the organization Intranet.
