California State University San Bernardino Department of Computer Science and Engineering Independent Study Presentation Date Friday, March 27, 2009 Time 10:45am - 11:30am Place JBH 359 Title Ray tracing in Computer Graphics Using OpenGL Presenter Wenzhe Xue Advisor Dr. Tong Yu Abstract In computer graphics, ray tracing is a technique for generating an image by tracing the path of light through pixels in an image plane. The technique is capable of producing a very high degree of photorealism; usually higher than that of typical scanline rendering methods, but at a greater computational cost. In the presentation, I will introduce the basic of ray tracing and several ray tracing algorithms.
