California State University San Bernardino Department of Computer Science and Engineering Reports on Summer Projects 2008 Date March 6, 2009 Place JBH 359 Time: 1-2:00 Advisor: Dr. Qiao Presenters: Steve Johnson, Jose Freire, and Nichola Navaroli Title Data Clustering on Gene Expression Data Abstract The data clustering project funded by the CSUSB College of Natural Sciences in summer 2008 will be simply presented. The main task of the project is to compare different clustering techniques and to discuss their applications to gene expression data analysis. In this talk, the speakers will introduce various clustering validation and data visualization techniques and discuss some challenges in gene expression data clustering. Time 2:00 - 3:00 Presenters Mark Chapman, Aldo Lewis, William Herrera, Atip Suripat Title Update on Game Development Projects at CSUSB Abstract This presentation will provide an update on three game development projects underway at CSUSB. The first project to be discussed is Vector Force, which is a top-down space shooter game that runs under Windows and the Xbox 360. The game is in its final stages of development and will be published shortly through the community games distribution channel of Xbox Live Arcade. The second project is Mythic, which is a multi-player role playing game set in a virtual 3D world. Prototype development of this game is approximately 75% complete. The third project is a self-care health game as yet to be named that we hypothesize will help overweight people lose weight. This project is in its inception. In this game, users will interact with computer controlled characters by sending and receiving messages on their cells phones. The speakers will discuss their roles in these 3 projects, including a report on the game development activities that were funded by the CSUSB College of Natural Sciences during the summer of 2008.
